Danilo Kato was born in Brazil, specifically in Minas Gerais, state of cheese and mineral wealthes. It also was a place with rich manifestation of baroque style presented in beautiful and amazing church architectures during the 18th century. When he was 3, with no time to learn portuguese, he moved to Japan. He spent few years of his childhood there before moving back to Brazil, but it was enough time to get a strong influence from the country and its culture, which even back to his home country, never stopped to explore. Now he lives in São Paulo.
Just like the mix of his ethnicity, the concept of his arts manifests a mix of many distinct features such as fragility and strength, complexity and transparence, brazilian and japanese. All of them done with deeply epic themes as final touch.
With passion for everything rich in details, adding his natural curiosity about people, nature and their behaviours, his drawings translate a peculiar world of himself: there's imaginary little monsters, magic flowers, explosive plants, death, life, pain, and mostly love.
